1st adventure with above..problem ground balancing..low 20s to get the chatter stopped..did find coins, caps etc at depth over 6 to 8 inches. Thoughts on correct settings to stop chatter? BTW, had it in pro mode with zero discrimination (sp).

You did well on those target depths. I don't have any salt beaches here, only freshwater lakes, It appears YOU could give some awesome advice!

At salt water beaches, wet sand and into the water, I set the GB at 15.
Dry sand, I auto GB the ATPro. Then I decrease the sensitivity to get rid of the chatter in and out of the water. Yes, you may loose an inch or so of depth, but it will find gold, silver and coins on the dry sand and in the salt water.

Fresh water: I GB at the water's edge.

Both fresh and salt I bring the iron up to 37 in hopes of finding some finer gold chains and ignore any iron targets.

Thanks John / Ed
Appreciate the quick responses. John, I am an amateur at best, seriously doubt I could give any advice at this time. Ed, good ideas, will try next outing, live a few hours drive from the beaches. I did make about $2 on this outing, think it only cost me $30 or so in fuel. Otherwise, sticking to land and perhaps lake/river outings.
