I think if any manufacturer posted that picture depicting their machine in operation, they would get fried on the forums... :lol:
 
Yeah back in that day Gardiner Electronics put out a 36 inch coil and a twelve foot shaft for hunting inside caves. Got some pics somewhere. Those old BFO's were a real pain but a lot of stuff was recovered with them.

Garrett used to advertise back then that their detectors would find paper money. I'll dig up one of the old ads and post it.

I bought green ones back in them days. More than once, I blush to confess. Had a BFO, then a TR, and finally, that short box VLF-TR in the picher. If I ever found a coin deeper than 4" with any of them, it escapes my memory. My mind still has a deep skeptical place that can't believe the Ace 250 actually came out of that shop. Well, all's well that ends well, eh?
 
All of the detectors back then were pretty much the same as far as depth and performance. BFO's had a definite limit regardless of whose name was on the detector. I've got a pic of me and my first detector, a Metrotech, way back in 1964 that I'll post later.
