Unfortunately NOT :stars: I went back to an old house (in the picture last year) that has been bulldozed and pushed into a pile. It

Metal detecting doesn't always mean coins and rings. Looks like you found some other "relics" and such while there. Will there be anything left next month when I come down??

For as much as it costs me in air fare and car rental to see you, I will need all of the zincers I can get to help pay for it. Someone has to pay for it and I haven't seen anything in the mail from you.....:hot:
Drive down. I used to drive straight through to the other side of LA in 16 hours flat.

Bill
From where I live it would take at least 19+ hours to drive there Plus an over night in a motel. Figuring the price of gas right now Awhitster and I figured that it would cost more in gas round trip than my plane ticket did. Then the hotel then the driving all that way by myself. A long lonely drive. Plus 4 days driving out of the week and a half I have there doesn't work out at all.......Besides, I drive 9 hours a day at my job. I sure as heck don't need to do that for a vacation....ehehe

I'd never make it there. As soon as I got out of this snow country everything would be a target.......

Still like I said, it works out cheaper to fly than the gas it would take. Don't think there is anything else to argue about on that one........

These days yeah, but not when I made my last trip. It costs a fortune to drive across town here now. Some of the schools I detect are 20-25 miles away but still in town. I remember when I could drive across the U.S. on $30-$35 worth of gas. Now it takes twice that amount just to fill the tank, and they say there is hardly any inflation. It still would only cost about $240 round trip to Southern California for gas.

Yeah it ain't no big deal. I've done a lot of that. When my buddy and me decided to move to California in 1955 we drove straight through from St. Loius to L.A. in a little over 30 hours. Course we were smoking. We picked up a new Chevy at GM in St Loius and delivered it to a dealer in California. That was our free ride. Whoever bought that puppy got one fast Chevy because after we drove it at break-in speed for the first 500 miles it never saw under a 100 after that. :)

No bus mans holiday for you huh bud? :) Yeah if you have limitec time then flying is best, especially if the airfare is cheaper than driving. Did you shop for airfare specials? Years ago wnen I had to fly back to Illinois in a hurry I started calling around and everyone wanted a friggin fortune for tickets but I kept shopping until I found a special at Continental for $198 round trip. Somebody is always running a special somewhere.
