1942 Mercury dime....

Hello, I have been hunting this one park over and over. Have found several silver coins there, but it has been hunted so much most of the silver has already been found. This park also has a frisbee golf course on it and you can't hunt the fareways because there are always people playing. Some of my other metal buds have
been able to get onto the fareways for a couple of minutes and have found silver. So I knew there was more there. I decided to try it this morning instead of the afternoon and there were hardly any frisbee golfers there. So I went up on fareway 2 and the first signal I got and dug was a 1942 Mercury dime. It was only 2"
down. I was covered with mud but I could tell it was silver by the edge, am sure you all know what I mean. So instead of stashing it and continuing to hunt that area I went for my water bottle to see what it was. After I cleaned it off I tried to go back to the same area but it was too late. The golfers were all lined up and playing.
I don't find much silver but when I do it is great. My idea is to pick the crappiest day for frisbee golf, maybe this fall, and hunt those fareways to death.
Anyway here is a pic of it, front and back.
Swing that coil slowly and you will find more.

Thanks for reading.
Dan.

Love those Merc's.
Try going at night. Works for me very well.

Thanks for the story and picture Dan. Congratulations on the Merc.!! Man, Frisbee golf must be really popular there. I hardly ever see anybody playing at any of the parks its set up for.

Funny you mention finding a shallow Mercury Dime !
I went to a new site last weekend - a Department Store that was established in 1878 ( now a bike shop ) and dug a 1927 Merc ( my oldest yet ) at only 3" - in soft topsoil !
Don't know why it wasn't deeper ? Merc's are sure great looking coins - good job finding yours !

Can't go at night. I thought about that. The park closes at sunset. If your car is there after sunset they can tow it away.

Thanks for the congrats. I live within five miles of three parks that have frisbee golf. The one I want to hunt is the one that is the most popular. The other two are almost never used. Go figure.

I know it's weird. The one I dug was so shallow. Most of my other silver coins were very deep. 8" + more. You never know until you dig.
I agree Merc's are fantastic looking and so much fun to find. It's awesome to see that silvery shine when you dig that plug ! !
Congrats on the 1927 Merc. Can you post a pic of it?
