1918 IL. chauffeur Lic. and a Barber Quarter

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
Today I went back and finished working the ballfield that I have been working the past week and I found a 1904 Barber Quarter and a wheat. I guess it's time to find a new " old " ballfield. On the way home I stopped at a demo lot that I have worked in the past and haven't found much, but today I found a cool 1918 IL. Chuffeur License. I've seen where people have found these and I have always thought it would be cool to find one. Well, I got one now. I soaked it in lime a way for about 15 min's and hit it with some 0000 steel wool and it cleaned up real nice.

Love to see those Barber quarters pop out of the ground. And like you, I've thought it would be cool to find one of those chauffeur badges. Looks like you got your badge before I got mine! Nice find. Congrats! HH Randy

That badge is cool, for sure. I realy want to find some of the older quarters. Just like your badge it will happen.

That is a lot more ornate than my New Mexico one. WTG.

Great badge, really like it.

thanks guy's. It was great too found the Barber, but it sure was a thrill when I found that badge.

I heard a guy from my area pulled 8 Barber Quarters :thumbup:from the local park and my friend just found one last week at the same place! Still would be nice to find some oldies, all I have ever found since I started was clad:thumbdown:
Still trying to get the :garrett: Pro Pointer then I'll really be finding some goodies faster and easier:detecting:

well coinguy in order to find old coins you have to go where old coins are. focus on old houses, private property.........that is where i find almost everything, just knock on doors and ask

I have scoped out a few old places in my area that I want to try; a house that is very old (my guess 1930's) and it has not been touched for years. I'll try it tomorrow and I'll get back to see what I can find. I'll hunt the Van Wert fairgrounds when I go to Mendon though

You don't need a pin pointer to find old coins. You need to be hitting that park real hard that everybody is finding the Barbers quarters at. lol

By the way, where is that park, lol

if that park is more than a few hours west of you, pick me up on your way through! HH Randy

Hey Randy, if they did pull 9 Barber quarters out of that park this summer can you just imagine all of the silver dimes, IH's, old nickels and wheats that could still be there, WOW

Ha it sounded way too good to be true but he insisted :heh:. But I'm going to check that place out because I hear it is still spitting out silver :detecting:. Oh and its Central City Park in Downtown Macon, GA. Its a trashy place but it has alot of treasures :detecting:.
I'm going to the 1930's house today, I'll let you know what all I find. If things are as good as I think it will be, I will film it and put it up on Coinguy56 :garrett:
