1914 D penny's

I have found two 1914 D Wheat cents . Both with a "Tesoro" , had to get that in . Do any of you have any idea how much these are worth in this condition?

The red book coin guide lists the 1914 d in G-4 condition at $215.00, VG-8 at $260.00
It also warns against altered dates and mint marks. One dead giveaway to tell a fake from a real one is the real ones do not have VDB on Lincolns shoulder.
Yours will have to be downgraded for dug and enviromental damage. maybe as much as 75% ?

Most coin collectors would classify your cents as "hole fillers" due to the environmental damage and they sell for $65 to $100. You can check Ebay sold listings and see what similar condition cents have sold for.

That's one of the coins on my wish-list that I've never found. All the other rare lincolns I've gottten, but that one is elusive for me. Congratz !

And as Larry and Ed allude to: Pennies rarely come out numismatically redeemable, EVEN when we md'rs get the key-dates :( Silver coins, sure: Possible to get those with no trace of ground kiss. But for copper pennies, they invariably have micro-pits and so forth. Still fun to find. And sure: if you get the '14d or '09s vdb and so forth, someone will pony up to have it as a filler. Albeit at a reduced price.

I've found 2-1914 D pennys and a coin dealer will not give you very much for them because of the pitting and corrosion. You will be lucky to get $40 from a coin dealer for one of them. If you are selling to someone that is just wanting one for there coin book you will get more.

Coin dealers and pawn shops are not the way to go. They have to resell them and make a profit to stay in business. Get top dollar by selling direct to the end user on EBay. I would suggest cleaning them with soap and water using your fingers, even a soft brush will not harm them considering the condition they are in and take some good close up pictures and they will sell. The serious collectors would not buy them but most coin collectors can't afford quality coins and are happy to just get the holes filled in their books and upgrade as they get the money. JMHO
