Went out Thursday night to bld. by old school scored a 1911 V Nickel with almost perfect Liberty but the color is redish orange not worth alot so is there a way to get the silver color to come back??? Have a bunch of Jeffs that i would like to try different methods to. Just would like to see it more clearly for personal effects. -Todd

In a small plastic container (like measuring caps for liquid clothes detergent), add 2 pinches of table salt and cover with white vinegar. Swirl until the salt dissolves as much as it will.
Add the nickel, let stand for 20 minutes or more (turning once)...keep an eye out for color change. Remove and rinse, finish with baking soda scrub - nickels have a hard surface. Repeat if needed. I've even had a date become readable after this treatment.
