1911 $5.00 gold coin!!!!

Hi all,
New here thought I would share my best find to date I have been detecting for 7 months with my e-trac and took the day off to go fishing then detecting.
Well I'm glad the decision to hunt outweighed fishing.
I had a good signal about 4" down so I dug and found a silver money clip which had an imprint of a coin that was attached.
out came the pin pointer and I had a handful of soil with a 1911 $5.00 gold coin sitting in the middle!
What a great day most people will never find a gold coin so I'm very thrilled of it happening on my day off!!!

n/t

Yeah I still can't believe it the coin has solder on it
Which I would like to have removed anyone have any idea?
Solder iron was my first thought?

Here is a picture of the clip and coin..

I wouldn't worry about the solder unless it was "d" and you could get it done professionally.
It will not increase the grade higher than what it is now as the evidence of the cleaning will remain.
Trying to DIY it will mostly likely cement the value at melt.
As a novelty , it's really cool.
Why not mount it on another silver money clip that's nicer and sell it that way for more than the numismatic/melt value? or a tie clip? or belt buckle? or a cuff link for a one armed man?

Wow. That is a once in a lifetime find! Congrats.
Personally if I found that I would never think about selling it but instead buy a display case for it :clapping:

what ferrous/conductivity numbers did the target give you ? I suppose the money clip made it read high.

Yeah im very stoked I will keep it Im never going to sell it I've only just started to detect found some very nice silver coins to.
One of my bucket lists items crossed off.

It was high the stearling silver gave a nice tone gold can be all over the scale it seems.
I will post my tests out on fertous cnd conductivity levels both seprate and together.
