1909 WheatHead Button?

I was at this site where a hotel was burnt down. I found this coin and thought there was a climp of dirt on the back that wouldn't come off. When I got home and ran some water over it, it actually turns out to be a button? So is this a 1909 wheathead penny that someone made into a button or were there some produced like this? Is it a real coin? I'm all sorts of confused!

That's pretty cool !

Thats very cool! :clapping:

I do know the oldsters made things out of coins, I remember reading an article in one of the Foxfires back in the 70's about building a black powder rifle where the guy used a silver dime to make the front sight out of....so your penny reminded me of that...I dont know why I remembered something from so long ago...thank you for your post!:please:
Mud

You know what would suck ? If that is a VDB and someone ruined it with that alteration .

Yup, what mud said! I'll add that was the 100 anniversary of Lincoln's birth so there may have been some sentiment there. The coin button was gilted too. Cool find.
