special thanks to Earthly potluck for speking words of faith, as i was encouraged to go back and beat myself up digging more nails and cans but today going down the rows of the farm field , detector set in pinpont all metal sens at 2:00 i got a soft round signal i almost left it it had a bit of a warble in it but when i switched into disq i got a high tone one way so i figured , its a slug well getting down about 10" up comes a silver disq no way its a barber quarter , and sorry to say i did nick it , i just figured it was a slug i will not look at this farm field the same you just never know were somthing good will come out thanks to the lord for this one

Nice! Which mode, all metal PP or disc, would you say was more TELLING that you should dig?...And did disc hit it harder?

I was in pinpoint all metal, and that gave me the heads up something was down thear, the signal was round but it had a bit of a warble wich you will get from a nail the coin must have been a bit up on edge so i switched into disriminat iron mask on and swept and got a high tone in one derection but it did not sound like a Iron false so i started digging digging down about 6" i got a faint signal with the pistol probe and kept digging i figured ahh its just another slugg well when I seen the silver disq i was shockedt a barber 1/4th dallar this is not soposed to happen this is just a poor farmers field full of nails and sluggs and pop cans and broken farm parts i was told those farmers dind not lose money -- humm well some farmers do

Wow, :surprised: :yikes: nice find there. :detecting:

Way to hang in there and great coin!:clapping::thumbup:

Super sweet find Gunnar I am proud of you! :clapping:Your dedication and persistence literally paid off! I knew there were goodies in that massive field. Make that field bleed lol There is more there Gunnar I feel it all the way from Connecticut. My Great Uncle was a farmer in Maine & Connecticut. When I was very young, he told me stories that not only happened to him but to other farmers losing change from their pockets. He told me that clothing was poorly made and the pant pockets ALWAYS developed holes and they were always losing their change. He told me not only farm fields but to also metal detect peoples gardens as this is a prime area for finding not only coins but jewelry as well. Gunnar has struck silver fever in the field lol I am happy for you. How is that WOT coil working for you?( Besides hitting that nice Barber Quarter)

nice one..... if you are happy with what you found you will be amazed once you find what you missed....... its not likely that only one coin was lost there....thats the kind of feild i like using the wot in.........i prefer hunting in disc with disc at minimum setting.....i stiill dig the occasional nail or iron relic but avoid the mass quanity of small iron......the nice thing about a field like that is you can go back year after year and still find targets especially because the soil gets flipped yearly.......congrats again....

Nice looking coin! Tomorrow morning I'm hunting a freshly turned field that hasn't been planted in years, hopefully there's a coin like that one waiting for me! :)

Now listin to me , grid search it if you can and dont quit because you dont find anything the 1st 15 times you go thear DONT QUIT keep going even if each row is silent as i have found farm fields are a hot spot full of fall harvesters who were paid in silver farmers sitting not in closed cabs but archaic tractors that shook every coin out of thear pockest you will find some goodies if you perservear endever to perserver now i am waiting for the pictures ...................................................
