I'm guessing that these are fairly common, but I was super excited when I found this yesterday after work. From what I have researched, this was a shotgun shell from the early 1900's. I found it at a park that used to be farmland. After talking to many people who say, "DIG EVERYTHING" I decided to dig a solid hit at a VDI of 45. I'm glad I did. I love finding old stuff. HH!

That's a cool find. Yes, specially when you know it use to be an open field. Dig, dig, dig. Thanks for posting and HH, Nancy

See, not all good finds are coins or gold rings. The longer you MD the more you learn that targets with lower VDI's AND a nice soft signal are something to get excited about. Lots of great finds in that range . . .

Very cool... I found a loaded .3030 round at a park last year, just barely below the surface... To top it off it looks as if it was hit by a mower. That was at a kids park.....

I found three .32 cal shell casing at a high school softball field last year, can't fig er that one out.

It seems like every other time that I go out, I find at least one round either fired or live, a knife, or some other freaky thing. It weirds me out!

If you are digging shotgun shells than you will not miss the gold. I always get a kick out of finding the old ones.
