1901 Canadian Cent

Found this Canadian 1901 cent with my Pioneer 202 while coin shooting around the local high school. It was about 7" deep but gave a good strong signal. Cut a 3" plug then dug slowly, probing with my TinyTec pin pointer trying to not damage what I hoped was a class ring. The school was built in the mid to late 1800's as an all girls college. Undecided if I might try to clean it up a bit. Not a valuable coin but collectible none the less. Really like the looks of verdigris patina that protects pure copper. It's in very good condition, shows no signs of wear, sharp edges and detail, just some deposits on the face. Probably dropped within the first year of minting.

1920s are the oldest Canadian Cents I have found, then the guys head is on the front...Yeah...what Ghost said...olive oil then toothbrush to get some of the crud off the coin, just be gentle...
