18x3 clean sweep anybody using them?

I bought one the other day and a guy said its so long that bad targets could cancel out good targets. Is this possible? So are there special techniques for using a coil shaped lik this?

I don't have the 3 x 18, but I think if I did, I would probably only use it for clean open field hunting for the coverage, maybe to find an area to locate more of a target concentration, then swap to a more usable coil to works the area of targets. Just a guess

Thanks, I got it for open fields only, lookin for some tips from the pro's. It's depth isn't bad for somthing three inches wide. I walked the baseline of a peewee league field over my lunch hour and foud it to be clean off all non ferrous targets. Guess thats why they named it the clean sweep, you get no target hits when you use it, LOL, gave me a much over due laugh, LOL.
will keep you posted on the progress.

I use a 3 x 18 CS on my Silver Sabre.
Today, I went over part of a nicely mowed grassy park after hitting the sand volleyball court.
It covers real estate fast!
I do not feel it is a deep seeking coil. Cannot recall digging a target deeper than 4, maybe 5" at most in our CA dirt/turf.
Pinpointing is excellent.
Response time of the Sabre is so good, a wiggle of the tip, (or tail), of the bar as you pull back determines where the target is.
When audio drops out, target is just about an inch behind, (inside, underneath), tip of the bar.

I do not feel targets would be missed, because of the quick Tesoro response/recovery time.
If I get a 'confused' audio tone, I stop my pace, as with any target, and step aside for a swing from another angle.

I don't whip the coil, but do use a brisk swing, generally.
A slow sweep is NOT necessary.

I definitely consider it a surface tool, and return with a machine using a concentric coil if promising.
It is the only coil I use a scuff cover on.

To my recall I dug a cheap ring at 6" last summer. And yes if there is more than one target under the coil at a time the detector becomes confused as to what to beep at. As for a bad target masking a good target the above post is true. If the bad target, lets say a large rusted nail is close to a quarter it's possible the nail will disc out if your discrimination is set to high. "This is really true if the rusted nail has been in the ground for a very long time. Just what I've noticed while hunting with the clean sweep and my Tejon.
