1894 Indian head penny at old homestead

Canine

I'm vacationing in Kalispell, MT and have been rained out often. Lots of flooding and moisture, but it makes the ground easier to dig. At a home development site, an old homestead house was sitting their just waiting for me to detect around it. Found a bunch of stuff, mostly junk, but came out with a couple of very corroded wheat pennies and an 1894 Indian head penny. It was about 4 maybe 5 inches down and is in great shape. (I need to get a camera for pics!)

One of the wheaties was about 2 inches down and about 45 degrees. It gave a differing sounds when I X'd it, but it still sounded coiny enough to dig, so I dug.

I noticed the buckles and other circular or oval shaped, holed objects gave some strong signals. Even the square buckles gave a strong signal. Hopefully, this will hold true and will bring me some jewelry!

Found a 30-30 casing and it gave a strong signal, but when pin pointing, it was longer in one direction. Later I got a great signal, but it sounded just like the casing I found earlier and I said, "Boy, that sure sounds like that 30-30 casing I found earlier." And it was! What a confidence booster. Would like to be able to do that consistently, so we'll see.

This place looks good for a few old coins and who knows? Lots of great places here; am going to miss it when I head back home.
