1893 World's Fair "Ferris Wheel" Souvenir Medal / Another Standing / Coins Back To 1880

Finds are from 3 hours of hunting at the start of the weekend and an all day Sunday hunt until 5 pm. Sunday was a 19 coin day. All finds were made in public city parks.
Coin Finds
Standing Liberty is 1925 and was a solid 10 inch coin. It wasn't a very loud signal as it was around some junk. Washington quarter is 1945.
Dimes are 1941, 1943 (Canadian). The 1943 silver dime was part of an 8 coin pocket spill. I haven't yet taken the time to Id the other pennies in the pocket spill as you can see how corroded they are.
Nickels are 1939,1939,1941.
Indian head is 1880. Wheat pennies are back to 1919.

Other Finds
The big worlds fair coin was an excellent signal that was close to a large tree and I had to work around some roots to get it. I knew it was something good based on the clean tight sound
so I didn't give up on it and I was glad I didn't.
The E.b London Item with the rod sticking out is actually a very old pin fire shotgun shell (Circa 1861 - 1874). It was a deep low tone similar to a nickel.
The button is an older Police button.
Other items are an old jackknife, a small musket ball and a cub scout badge (partially exposed)

Thunder Coil was used.

Congrats on the SLQ FPD! It has been way too long since I have dug one. However, that Columbian Exposition ferris wheel medal is by far the star of the show. What a killer piece and lucky it remained so well preserved for an aluminum item. Keep digging and HH!

Once again, your finds are a great treat to see! Thanks for not only sharing the pics but also the descriptions of your hunts. Really cool World's Fair Medal, congrats!

right on Dave...you are as steady as the sun coming up my friend!!
always a nice variety of items and it seems always these finds come from places where lesser detectorists have failed!!
you are truly professorial FPD.....your studious methodical approach clearly pays off!

hey Dave...one question i had based on your last several posts....you mentioned you run AUTO+3 in the SENS world...
at that level, do you null out alot?? or do the soils in your area allow you to maintain a smooth steady threshold at AUTO+3??
i usually run on manual so i can move up and down easily as each site's conditions move....but it seems lately i can never maintain a threshold hum over say 13 or 14 on the SENS, and it makes me feel as if i am losing depth and finds :(
not sure if it is just the dry hot summer conditions or what??
i have seen tons of YOUtube vids where guys are running their SENS numbers up in the high 20s!!..lol
not in these parts you don't!!...it seems they hunt with all that noise...and little or no threshold hum
and apparently do pretty well??...or is it staged nonsense!?!?.......who knows with YOUtube
but it seems to me that if you "blank out" all the time...or lose your threshold, you are running too hot on the Etrac...and missing a ton of targets because you are not hearing them at all.....because you are nulling the hell out of the machine
does Professor Dave have any thoughts on this?? lol

Hey SS,
My machine runs pretty smooth and deep around here in Auto +3.
Once in a while I will use manual in clean ground if I am hitting deep targets in Auto.
There is always a trade off by running your machine too hot as some of the dimes can null out and you might miss them if they are next to iron.
Just equate it too how your low beam headlights see better in the fog than high beam.
I prefer junkier sites as they still mask good deep targets. Also I don't even look at my screen until after I qualify the target as a good one. So many
people starting out with the Etrac believe a certain coin will fall into a tight ferrous/conductivity range and they rely on matching those numbers too closely.
As most of you know coins at extreme depth have a large range of numbers but still give a repeatable "dig me" sound.

Hey Dave,

Some more great finds.

This is the best quote I have read on this forum in a long time

"So many

As most of you know coins at extreme depth have a large range of numbers but still give a repeatable "dig me" sound. ' New guys to detecting need to read and pay close attention to this as it hit the nail right on the head.
