1893 V nickle and an old pin

Went back to the wooded area of the park today. Hunted a new area .Found a very nice horseshoe and other assorted rusty things. I had a signal that i thought might be an indian head penny. It turned out to be an old pin. Does anyone recognize the symbols ? A little bit after finding the pin I dug an 1893 V nickle. I think this one is in better shape than any of the others I have.I must be getting close to 70 old coins dug here in the past three years .

Was using the Vaq. ground balanced neutral , minimum disc, sens 10 and threshold on the last O of the tesoro logo.

I also found what appears to be a hand crank screwdriver. Its one piece. there is no chuck.

The symbols on the the pin look like Fleur-de-lis, It's french.

That V Nickel does look to be in great shape. Nice going.

It sounds like you have a good spot to be providing old finds for three years.

Also, thanks for the Model and settings used. I wish everyone would do that. Which coil was mounted?

Best of success on your next trip.

This pin does have French Fleur-de-lis symbols. That is interesting. The first settlement in Northeast Missouri was right down the road two miles , from where I found this. It was a a frenchman who mined salt and sold it in St Louis. He had to have a road to the salt mine and this was found on an old road.. I dont think this pin is that old though.

Monte i was using a 5.75 inch concentric.

nice, you had a good day. nice pin for your hat. well, if you are a frenchman anyhow. haha

Nice finds, good luck on your search of the area.

That nickel is in great shape, thanks for sharing. Just wondering how did that pin attach? Was it a pin and clasp on the back side?

Yes , a pin and clasp.

I just did a quick count and I have found approximately 83 old coins here in three years . Not in one spot. Theres lot of woods and I have found them scattered throughout. The two best were 1914 D penny's found about fifty yards apart. Coins are getting harder to find though. I average one about every two trips.

that nickel is in good shape
