1887 Injun!

Hello all!

I am so excited... I was in a village on the shore founded in 1865... just looking around and I got lost by one of the marina's. While turrnig around next to the train tracks I see a white sign for a little park that is all encased in these 10 foot hedges... and the sign read about the community activity program and it was dated 1899. I looked in and its 100-125 foot circle with modern wooden benches in it... only about an hour till sundown... so I grab the gear out of the trunk... and the high speed accela goes by, then a few minutes later another train... I only mention this as I seem to be getting a strange interference that I can hear that is rythmic... but I start to scan... 1 memorial... a 2nd memorial... trying to stay positive... and I keep getting signals 6-8 inched down that were dissapearing... and the interference seemd stranger and to come and go... one hole the signal dissapeared but I was sure I had a good pinpoint and kerep digging and used the Bullseye to locate it 7" down... I could make out headfeathers... My first injun!!! (1887)

I filled my hole and had to call my wife I was so excited... Then I got back to scanning... another memorial... then another larger target @ 6-8 inches... registering 25-50... I got excited... dug my plug... lost the signal... hmm... strange... but kept digging ang got it it a depth that my leche red handle was int he hole... and I'm not sure what to make of it... it is man make... but what is it...

Its a beauty Paul !! I have also found some of my favorite places while i was lost, half the fun of TH'ing is the search itself. None the less, it's great reading stories like that. I'll just have to live vicariously through you for now, work is getting so hectic that i barely have time to get online to see how you guys are doing, let alone figure out which closet the wife threw the tector' in. What a waste of beautiful weather, workin:rage:!! Keep those great finds rolling in and HH, JJ

congratulations, paul! finding indian head cents is a good indication that anything is likely to be found in that area. there's prolly a few more out there, and some silver too. dig all your signals in that type of place; you will be surprised what you come up with. wtg, and hh,

WTG Paul, sounds like your on to something, love the way you found that place. Good luck on more finds there hh

I got back to the park a little later then I wanted and silver is still eluding me :-( but I did get 2 more Indian Head Cents... another 1887 and an 1883... I'm sure there is more awaiting me...

So that officially puts me at 1 little, 2 little, 3 little indians.... Wahoo!

Why am I so excited about this? My wife is laughing at me... not really at me... but... she pretty regularly calls me and hand me change she finds around the house with some silly comment... but she is happy that I love doing it...

This was found the other night with my first IH. It is about 1/2 the thickness of a penny... this is the front and back views:

The edge design on that unknown looks like a Matron Head cent...
