Fantastic find there Greenwood  Shux I'd be happy for ANY Morgan dollar no matter what shape it was in. What sort of area did you find it in? Walking liberty halfs, buffalo, wheat pennies. Sounds like you've got a sweet spot. I collect Morgans and have every year except 1892, 1893. Wish I could say I dug em but only $$ I've ever tected have been the presidentials.

this was at an old farm house and it was hit hard by others with v3 and at pro and all i have is my ace 250 i had my 250 a year now and now i cheery pic but not all the time i dont want to miss a thing i go slow and hit the place that i hunt hard i get all the junk out and i go over it and over it now if i get an atpro i will hit this farm hard i have spots that has not been hitby me yet

I have yet to find a "dollar" except for the newer ones. I love to find a Morgan dollar, but I just never have passed my coil over the top of one yet. Well, maybe next year since this year is winding down real fast. Congratulations on the great find.

Good job! Bet that signal sounded sweet. I've yet to find anything larger than a silver quarter, not that I'm complaining....

good find!!! and thanks for the detail (notched all but $1, sens. 5, and 7" deep). I was at a new park with JEWELRY mode and digging it all. I was on my 4th clad penny (all corroded of course) when a couple of kids walked about 10' from me and bent and picked up a fresh pocket spill with 6 quarters. Changed the way I hunt! Now...I cherry pick the park first for all the recent stuff, then go back for deeper stuff. Incidently...all my jewelry has been at 3" or less.

Thumbs up!

I think the highest end machines can go deeper...however....I can live the 10% I CAN'T find for the 90% that I DO find. And...since all of my jewelry finds (so far, anyway) have been 3" or less, then I don't need an $1500 ETrac to find a ring at 3"....my ACE 250 does just fine!

I think the Ace has been around long enough now that people kind of forget how absolutely amazing this machine is.
Is the color obnoxious??? you bet. Looks like a yellow pile of #$%^ Is is loud enough to knock your stocking hat off??? Oh yeah, it's loud.
And those are the repeated reasons the haters hate this machine.
Does it find different types of targets at a respectable depth??? yup.
Can the hunting mode be altered with a quick button push without scrolling through page after page of menu options?? yup again.
Quick learning curve??? Check
comfortable enough to swing for a long hunt??? yup again
Cheap to power?? yup once more.
It is easy enough to learn that it got saddled with the reputation as a "beginners model" The inexpensive price also got it tossed in with some of the "low end" detectors.
Scroll through any metal detecting forum and just look at all the finds and stories about happy hunters using the 250.
Even though everybody in the metal detecting world has heard of the Ace 250 it is still the best kept secret in the hobby.

It's hard to "upgrade" as long as my ACE keeps finding stuff!
