Hey guys,
This week I traveled to a relatives home that was built in 1880 in Massachusetts, and has not been detected before. My hopes were high, even though the people who lived there were not so well off. I brought my friend with the VX3 and was worried he might take a coin or two that I would have wanted, like a seated or a barber. Well, luck was on my side, as I pulled out some old silver in the shape of a well worn 1907 barber dime, my first ever! I also scored a '45 Merc, and two Rosies, '51 and '53... first silver trifecta!!!!. With the clad dimes I found, does that count as a general dime slam???? My other first was a dateless Buffalo nickle, followed later by a 1930 buffalo. My friend had some issues with his detector, I hope he can get it repaired, but I think he wants to upgrade to the E-Trac haha! We also got some junk jewelry, wheats from the 20's to the 40's, and I also pulled a crusty 1903 Indian(my 5th Indian). The yard had the worst amount of iron I have ever seen on any site I have hit so far, but TTF shined through the trash and I got the old silver out of there. Odd finds were a 1977 Bank of Kenya 10 cents by the street, a corroded Wooden Nickel token, and a mini wrench/screwdriver tool. We camped out overnight to be able to hit the whole yard, and managed to finish by 10:30 the next day. We tried hitting some parks on the way home, but two had NO DETECTING signs and the third park I tried for permission from, the parks dept. people weren't working that day so we couldn't do anything. Be weary of Mass. parks, they seem to not like our hobby...Happy hunting everyone!
