1879 seated dime -but i did not bring my detector:hot:

this morning , i was just itching to get out to the ball field, but my buddy went home and i had no vehickle to use so i was a bit grumpy so I decided to grab my digging trowel and go out and practice digging plugs so after doing that i decided to take a walk on the property, see the rum and so on well on my way back i was at the top of bone hill and the rain had recently washed out some dirt , I looked down and stoped in my tracks, and thear was what looked like a aluminum disq but i thought is it a silver coin ?? NEVER not on this barren property i have been going over this farm for 4 years and never found silver and now hear i am with no detector and staring down at a silver disq , I stooped down NO WAY i could see a seated lady then picked it up and seen the date 1879 WOW my 1st sivler coin on dad,s property i was just hunting in this spot last night and found about 40 nails the spot is littered with nails then i remembered the strange happening last week i was using readers digest books to do depth testing and when i grabed one the cover came off and a book marker droped out on the book marker it said (THE REAL VOYAGE OF DISCOVERY CONSISTS NOT IN FINDING NEW LANDSCAPES, BUT IN HAVING NEW EYES) this bothered me i felt it was a prophecy and i knew it ment i would make the find without the SOV GT plus i wanted to go to a beach and i just threw it away thinking ahh im reading to much into things low and behold i make this great find with no detector not not in a new spot but with new eyes . 1879 is when tabor hometeaded his farm but I heard from the neghbor that old man tabor said his 1st house was up on a hill just west of the rouad i wonder if this may be the old homestead , hundreds of nails , salt glaze pottery all up on this hill dont know for sure its not on any old maps, but thank God for the find it really took me off gard
 
How ironic with the book marker. A forecast was being given and it came to pass. Super nice find Gunnar and you didn't even have to fire up the GT! I don't even need to tell you what to do now. Are there any pictures of the old farm? Congrats on the super nice find! - Jim

Wow, and it looks to be in pretty good shape too. If I was you I'd work that road for what it's worth. If you can get a weed wacker up there you could clear out some spots to hunt too. Good story.
 
well i found out 1879 is a rare date only 14000 minted the minimum value is 150.00 ohh ya this is my defalt spot now .

I would ask to borrow a tractor and mow that stuff down lol. You are on your way to buying that SEF coil :)
 
Great find !!

But I don't think I would be that eager to sell it. I might want to keep it for a couple of decades.
 
WOW, I think the ball field would be on hold for the time being.
I would crank my discrimination up for silver, detect through the area, then back through cross-ways and diagonal.
Afterwards, I would go back through with the discrimination set down for gold.
 
thear is so many nails in the spot it is a constant null , must be the reason i never found it before as i was over this spot with the musky and the GT
