1867 IH penny update

ok I did what i could to make this penny legible, I am happy with it now, compared to how it came out of the ground. I think it turned out decent.

I had it inside a white potato for about 20 hours, removed it about every 6 hours and changed it to a new slit. It removed 90% of the green corrosion, so the date is readable, that was my main concern. At least now it is presentable in my collection of dug IH cents.

yes it is for copper coins only, use a white tater, red ones just do not work, not sure why.

cut a slit in the tater and shove the penny inside, the tater will turn real black around the penny, this is the crap it is removing, remove it after 6-8 hours and put it in a fresh slit, the whole process will take 16-24 hours depending on the level of corrosion, when your satisified with the level of corrosion removal, remove it, wash it off with water, and give it a good coat of vaseline to help restore some shine
