I never thought that I would find one in Wisconsin! I went to a rummage sale yesterday and struck up a conversation with the homeowner about his hot wheels collection that he was selling. After he took me on a tour of his basement where his more valuable cars were kept, he asked me if I collected anything. I like to collect coins. He said that I should look at the large cent that his wife found in the garden this past spring. I looked at it and it was from 1846! I told him that I also metal detect and asked if I could detect his yard, it is about 2 acres. He said, "sure anytime, there is also 20 acres around the house that use to have a stable and barn and assorted buildings. He said I would have to wait until fall because it is now filled with 8 foot tall corn. I detected for about 2 hours and only had 4 lincoln, a 1940 wheatie and some bottle caps. I thanked the landowner and said I would be out on Sunday. I went home and cleaned the dirt off the coins and immediately saw that one of them was not a lincoln! It was the civil war token! I was just shaking! I showed it to my wife and her friend, took some pictures, and brought it back to the landowner. He could not believe it! He was like a little kid! I told him to keep it and add it to his collection. I will be back on Sunday.
