1854 site OMG. Once in a lifetime find !!!

This morning I posted my quarter from this site...I went back today for a couple hours ...Got a 01 Indian that I gave to the owner of the property..Then a few more wheats.. His kids were out with me , and I was giving them a few coins ..Then I got a shallow but sweet reading a couple feet from a tree. Made a little sclice , and seen the ridge of a silver coin... Just about fell over from excitement...I found one peace dollar about thirty years ago.. Just got done telling the owner I was gonna find a coin from the 1800s yet , I was thinking Indian ..Not Morgan ...woohoo .. I did find a merc dime also , I gave that to the family..They knew I was excited and wanted me to have the Silver Dollar.. To me they are rarer than large cents , not as valuable , Now to find a gold coin...lol ..

OMG! is right! Nice find! Good to hear of your interactions with the property owner. Rock on! HH. Matt (PS...I used to live in Ashland)

Very cool ... congrats !!

Excellent!!! In over twenty years I only found one silver dollar and about 10 large cents so the dollar is more rare in my case! Great job!!

I've found a half dozen large cents also.. never a Morgan...people lost large cents more often ..than silver dollars... Now I really would love to join that gold coin club..

OMG is right Todd.....Sweet Morgan Dollar find.
Congrats on a terrific hunt. Gold Nuggets :wiggle:

She's in nice shape! As far as silver $ to LC ratio, I found a Morgan and peace dollar two years ago, and only 2 large cents last year so far.

Sweet digs, congrats!

morgan dollar is still on my want list you got some great finds and a very nice site to hunt congrates

OMG What A Find!!!!

Did you have a deal with the property owner about your finds before you started digging?

When anyone indicates to me that they expect my Finds from digging on their property I know it is Not going to work out

Congrats on The Amazing Find

He wanted one coin .. which I agreed and gave him a few.. also I give the landowners all rings and anything of historic relevance to the property . that way if they want it , they have something to gain too... that way if I find a ring ( usually silver ) they can take it and get e few bucks from it.. also I tell the if I find a coin of high value. (thousands) . we would take it to the local coinshop and see what he would pay for it.. then split it fifty fifty.. A high coin value to me is over fifty to a hundred dollars. I explain to them that a silver dime is normally worth about two bucks , and I do not consider it high value.. be honest.. and you will get a welcome back for years to come.. believe it or not .. most of the people let me detect their yards whether they are home or not.. just cuz I show them the first few finds and am honest with them.. I did offer to pay the owner half the value of the silver dollar.. but he said seeing my excitement was worth more than any money I could pay them...lol.. this is just what I do.. most people just want to know what I find.. and don't want anything.. but sometimes it backfires.. two weeks ago a guy stood over me , I showed him the coins , and he kept them all....lol.. it was only four coins , but either way he got a nice Indian .. I got nothing..lol.
