At the long lost cellar hole I have been detecting I found this 1837 hard times token. Today I have been in contact with the Martin VanBuren National Historic Site. I offered it as a donation and they would like to have it. Wow it will be in a presidential museum!
Thanks for looking, Mike

Very nice..still good detail left on that one... i would have a "hard time " letting it go.lol i found one several years ago , still have it... congrats...

Now that's a real piece of history - congrats ! :beers:

I am so jealous!!! :jump:

What a find!!! And how nice to donate it to the museum! You are an upstanding guy - the kind of good-will ambassador this hobby needs!

Congratulations on a phenomenal find!

Now, that's what i'm talking about. Finding some history and giving it up for all to see. That's how we all should be. Well done!!

Excellent!

Not the absolute rarest variety of this type...but all hard times tokens are rare.
On my bucket list and not checked off yet.

All you need to know about this one...

Things did not work out with the donation. I drove down to the historical site and when I asked how they were going to display it, they said that their site was more of a home site with tours and that they were not going to display it just put it in a safe. I told them I can do that, and if they ever wanted it to display just let me know.
Happy hunting, Mike

Congratulations B Spa! That's the kind of find that really makes your day. I hope that you have many more such days! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
