1833 Hard Times Token Found

I found that exact token back in November. Seem to be poppin' up all over. It is actually from Attleboro, Massachusetts even though it says New York on it. It's listed as a pretty common token, but a great metal detecting find. I thought mine was a large cent at first when I dug it.

Wow! Saw the photo of yours on uTube, is exactly like this one I dug up years ago. The reverse side says "Medal of Excellence awarded to H.K. Thurber & Co. for "Pride of The Kitchen Soap". Dated 1882. Heavy, 2" diameter and 1/4" thick. These have got to be extremely rare to find, the average guy on the street wouldn't have one. Yours and mine could possibly be the only two ever lost and dug up from the ground. Jabbo

Jabbo yours is considerably larger than diggingdetector's or the one I found. Mine is the size of a large cent and diggingdetector's seems to be the same. Yours looks like an actual medal. Very cool. Yours could be rare. The tokens diggingdetector and myself dug have a rarity of R1 or R2 depending on the variation of the token.

nkb, Yea, mine is large. I never thought I'd see any others dug up. If I remember correctly, Thurber Co. has a different name today, is a large well known company.

The back side is inscribed, hard to read the script in the photo. HH, Jabbo

How about a photo?
