1800's homesite in field gives up some goodies

went to a field today where an 1800's homesite used to stand, got 2 indians 1887, and 1898, eagle button, says excelsior, a few other relics.

I believe that button is a New York button.
I have one that has a different emblem, but has the words "excelsior" on it also.

yes your correct it is New York State Militia, it is the 3rd one I have dug in last 2 yrs, other 2 are exact matches
 
dangit man. We really dont have a chance to find buttons like that here. Not many cw relics around. Just a few dropped shots here and there. Congrates on the buttons.

well no civil action ever happened in my area either, I assume it was lost by a soldier who returned home! I am in NW Ohio
 
got to wonder what kind of history that button could tell....:thumbup:
 
Didn't you find the body to that head a couple weeks ago?
