I took the wifes vehicle to the shop today. Come to find out that the garage use to be a blacksmiths shop and has been in the family since the 1800s. There was a little bit of yard left so I got permission to search it while waiting for the service to be finished. Dug up lots of iron , it was everywhere. Big pieces but I knew there was a good one to be found somewhere. I dug this up and showed it to the owner. He took it in the shop to show his brother and while in there took a electric wire wheel to it. I wish he hadnt done that.A toothbrush would have cleaned it nicely. Oh well. I think it is brass.

cool find , you sure get around to some interesting spots, I get all exited when i hear about them , but like a dog suddenlyyanked back by its leash i remember I'm not coming to the hunt , good to see the finds

Great way to kill some time, and interesting find. I need to carry a detector in the car more.
