You can buy 2300 mah batteries from several suppliers and (some produce a 2600 mah) put them in your 'alkaline' holder. Get a good charger when you do it and get the ones that are built with the Sanyo Eneloop technology. A little more expensive but it's frustrating when you grab you alkaline pack with good Nicads in it that has been sitting in your tool bag and they are dead. NiCads don't retain their charge very long. They discharge into the air someway. If you throw them on the charger every couple of weeks or so they'll be fine and charging them that often won't hurt them at all. The Eneloops are supposed to keep 80% of their charge after sitting on the shelf for one year. Jim
