18 keg ?

I decided to hit a park that i never been to and went strait to the tot lot when i got there. My first hit was a solid 80 on my vdi. I dug the signal and about 6 inches in the chips came out a ring . When I got the ring home I checked the inside and it was stamped 18 k e g . I never seen this stamped on a ring before can someone please tell me what this is. thanks

I believe it stands for electroplate gold.

cannot find keg used for purity indicator anywhere! K-aret E-lectroplated G-old .........makes sense though.
