1793 Flowing Hair Large Cent!

Well Christmas sure came early today! :headbang:I ventured out to an old stand by expecting to suck up a button or two but was very pleased with my finds today. The rain in the area made the loamy ground very soft and wet. I was picking signals for a solid 2 hours out of an area pounded by many detectorist including myself. First signal was a nice tombac button. About 20 minutes later I got a very loud solid 92 on my T2 very shallow. Thinking can or quarter on the surface. I flipped this bad boy out of the ground and nearly died when I wiped the dirt off the face! HOLY #@$E%. I was hunting solo so I just quietly celebrated making several phone calls to m hunting buddies. Beautiful 1793 Wreath and Bars large cent!!

Congrats on your find. It is SWEET!!! You don't see them very often.

That is a nice Coin..............

Wow fantastic, check that baby out there are many variations of these early big coppers with large dollar values. Not that I would ever sell such a find but for insurance purposes it would be nice to know.

WOW! I am super happy for you SouthJerseyJim! That is an AWESOME find. Looks like it is in real nice condition too! I have a real good idea of where you will be spending a lot of time hunting lol Good for you and wish you many more large cents and other old coins out of that field. Persistence paid off and it goes to show as many times as you and others hit this area it still has super finds waiting to be found. - Jim

Awesome finds Jim and great video and photos . That Flowing hair is in awesome shape . Thanks for sharing your adventure .:clapping:

That's got my oldest-date US coin beat, but we don't have as much opportunity to luck upon such a find out here in the West and North-West.

A great way to end 2011 so I hope 2012 rewards you as well.

Imagine that Jim !! That was at the beginning of American Coinage. That's why I hunt. Coins like that are very very hard to find, especially in that condition. You lucky dog!!! Congrats!!!

Congrats on a great find :beers:
