1760ies hand made copper weather vane

Today I was hunting a State Park, the rules are anything of historic value must be turned in. The photo shows the weather vain that was turned over to the park ranger. He said that it was probably on a carriage house that that burned down in the 1760ies. He said that it was hand hammered. Even though I could not keep it it sure was exciting to find. I thought it was junk at first but the numbers were coming in the copper range but all over the place and the noise was almost defining. It said 0 inches but I did not find anything till I was at least 8 inches deep. It took more than an hour to get it out I could see that it was copper and I was being very careful not to damage the the finish or detail on the bird.. The ctx3030 sure dose its job. Also found some clad coins $3.83 in about 3.5 hours.

vey neat, one of a kind find.
And hopefully it will get restored by a local museum or conservatory.
You should see if you can keep tabs on it's whereabouts so you can see it after it's restored.

Now that a cool find :twodetecting::minelab::cheers:

That's fantastic once in a life time find congrats
