17 Wheat

I think my Etrac is doing really good now that I have got this Manual Sensitivity thing figured out. I had a little time this afternoon and found this 17 Wheat a tad over 8" using an 8" Sunray Coil. I was running only about 16 Sensitivity which was as high as I could run but it did the job. I was using a Sampson Shovel and pulled a good plug but had to get another bite to get it out. Really like the Sunray 8 Coil.

I wish my ground was so kind to old copper! My old wheats are usually super crusty, sometimes unreadable. Indians usually have severely deteriorated edges.

Ours is not that great we usually have to shock them quite a bit to get them readable.

Regarding the coils themselves....were you running the Joey with your recently changed Manual Sens settings also? Maybe at some point the Joey would benefit from Manual if not? Great to see you like the X-8,it's a real shame they're not being produced anymore, apparently. You'd be hard pressed to find a bad review on them....nice wheat! Gotta LOVE those earlier ones!

I usually ran the Joey on Auto but have sense started using the X-8 almost exclusively. I have expressed this several times on the Forums so I will do it again. It is a shame that Sunray seems to be going out of business. Everything they make is or was the best you could buy. The X-8 is proof of this. Just wish they made a X-10 because I would own one. I already have the X-12. I never saw a bad review of the X-8 myself. I actually bought two just in case one goes bad or in my case drops a shovel on it.

I'm glad to see you're getting on well with the X-8, I know I wasn't the only one who was trying to get you on that wagon! I sometimes don't like recommending things because I haven't TRIED everything out there,so it makes a "sure thing" hard to guarantee...sometimes one just has to try it out,and what works well will be found out on a firsthand basis. The thing that jumps out about the X-8 is the depth, separation, stability and reasonable coverage...in ONE coil. It JUST ABOUT makes coil changes obsolete in many areas.

First Hunt with my etrac and I was hard pressed to find a penny. Congrats on the wheatie, I like wheaties.
