17 hours hunt time this weekend, Silver, Indians

Goes4ever

New member
As the post title says I put in 17 hours of hunt time this weekend, saturday morning the wife and I were in the field at sunrise looking for a new site, took us quite some time, but we located it. I got one crusty indian and nothing else, all junk, she did not get any keepers either. We tried hard till 11am, but it wasn't meant to be. I took her home to get ready for work and went to meet a buddy of mine, we hunted from noon till 6:30pm. We simply could not find a good spot anywhere. I managed 2 mercs and a couple wheats, and a VERY toasted indian.

Sunday, I met up with Jim again at 9am, and off we went to a house I had permission for, Jim got one lone rosie, and I got one wheat, this yard was bare....we tried a couple more spots and just nothing was giving up the goods. I snagged my only decent indian at a spot I knew an old church used to be and it was the only coin from that site in 2 hours. We hit the last house and luckily I got a merc and a rosie to save the bad day we were having. We ended our hunt at 3:30pm

My wife gets home at 4pm and wanted to hunt, so off to a different field and it wasn't any better than saturdays field....I managed to get two more crotal bells and nothing else for either of us, we quit at 7pm......so 17 hours of hunt time and it aint much to show for all the spots we tried. 95% was private property, just not good spots....lol

Any idea on the "US Lock" ??? age or info?

You sound a lot like me. I try to get out as much as I can (every weekend, after work, etc.) based on my work schedule and how I feel. Oh, I forgot about working around my wife's plans. I can tell by your posts and how much you like helping people that you REALLY enjoy it. I've put many of your (and others) suggestions to use in the field and it has helped me became a better Mder. On a side note, you would not believe now much you look like my dad (much younger dad):). It's uncanny, and he's an avid Mder as well.

Looks like a pretty decent hunt to me. Sorry, no info on the lock from me.

yeah sounds like me to i cant seem to get permission from anybody nobody wants to let you on their property lol i even started using goesforevers lines and it still dont work for me lol all i have right now is spots that i have hunted hard and the only thing im finding is wheaties here and there i live in kentucky anybody else on here live close by?

G4E here is some info I found from another site on your lock..I can't vouch for it's accuracy but it's a start..

It's a warded brass padlock made around 100-110 years ago. Most aren't marked, but Franklin M. Arnall's The Padlock Collector identifies the maker as the E. T. Fraim Lock Co. of Lancaster, PA. Although it's sometimes listed as a lock from a U.S. mail bag, and on eBay some sellers have also called it a military lock, in fact it was a retail item sold in local hardware stores and mail order catalogs

thanks for the info, It was dug at a late 1800s farm, there was obvious fill dirt there because clad was 6" one merc from 1940 was almost 9" and this lock I almost gave up on. It came it a screaming 12-47 and depth meter showed it at 6-7" I dug down to the depth of my lesche and still nothing! that is 12" !!! I said to myself gonna take a few more scoops out and I am done because it is probably some large junk, well next couple scoops took me to about 2 inches past the depth of my lesche...14" and my pro pointer went off and there it was. I was so deep I swear I could hear chinese voices coming from the hole!.....

Nice stuff Terry, love the lock and other relics, and of course it is not a Goes4ever hunt without some Indians! Lot of work but some real keepers there.

Congratulations on some well "earned" finds Terry! Thanks for the pictures.
