So I was at that 1704 house today installing the wireless, camera and such...

I started in the dirt basement and within 5 minutes... I had this coin pop out...

With a little help from the Coinhunting.net guys.. the following was posted...

I definitely see the 16! above the image on the left...

I think it is more likely a 1692-1694 William and Mary Halfpence. William and Mary ascended to the English throne in 1688 but it was not until the end of 1691 that they had complete control of Ireland.

In 1692 they resumed a copper regal coinage of halfpennies very similar to the style of the previous coppers of Charles II and James II.

These copper halfpennies were issued for three years and are dated 1692, 1693 and 1694.

:clapping: nice coin, I wish we had that age of coins here, the earliest I have found here in nz is 1846 (without a metal detector.... earliest with a detector 190:geek: . Quite cool that it was in the basement, was there any other interesting stuff near it? would there be bottles and the like......

I did find some buttons... lots or iron... and from over the years... washers... old wires... pieces of cut pipe.... The basement is almost untouched in 300+ years... But only that one coin... I've been over the basement 3-4 times... with the 10.5" DD and the HF 6" DD...
