15X12 SEF coil

Have any of you got any time in with the GT and the 15x12 sef coil ? I bought one a few weeks ago and have yet to use it in anger. I have just fitted it to the minelab straight shaft and got myself a chest mount harness so I am geared to go. Only had a quick try in my back garden but it seems to be finding things ok. Hopefully I might have some finds to post in the next few days - would be great to hear if any of you have any experience of this coil with the GT ?

Oh, fair enough ! As soon as I manage to get out and try it I will post back on here - if any of you beat me to it , please do the same. I think it should work really well but would be nice to hear it , if not see it.

You can also get em for the GP series and whites dfx,mxt etc

Don, from what i'm hearing, the coil is available for the Sov. Problem is finding it.

Hi Bill, you still in Indiana?? Yeah Ive chked the big top kellyco they only have them for Explorer/Quatro. The Explorer guys are giving some good reports on this baby and I'm looking for a bigggg coil. to find a big pile. Don

Thinking about it - they weren't advertised here for the sovereign initially but as soon as I asked I was told that they were in stock and ready to go.

Yep, still stuck up here where where a beach is only a dream.LOL!I do plan on being back down in the fall some time. that is is everything goes as planned.

I finally managed to get out and try the SEF/GT a few days ago so as promised, here are my findings. The SEF coil seems to work really well - it has a bigger footprint than the stock 10" coil so overlapping the sweeps is much easier. The coil seemed to remain pretty stable throughout using different sensitivity settings. I recovered about 30 targets in a 4 hour session - the best of which are in the pic. The coil is a little heavier than the 10" which was obvious to me as I chest mount the control box - I dare say this will be less obvious to those that use it on the shaft. The bigger footprint also meant that pinpointing was not so straightforward but I reckon a bit of practice would help this! I was glad that for once I took along my pinpoint probe. As you can see in the pic, it is super sensitive to even the smallest of targets. I am impressed with this coil and very glad that I took the plunge. I also read a review on it recently and it said that this one or the smaller one are the ones to go for (phew!).

i don't water hunt but have you ever tried any of the fresh water lakes in your area. the ones around here they wouldn't let you in but i heard of some people cominfg in from out of state and sneaking in at night. said they did real well.
