150 Minelabs on the Bench for repair!!!

So if they fix 2 a day and your last on the list, you should have your machine back
in 1 YEAR.(plus warranty work pushes you back farther) WONDERFUL as I feel sorry for you guys that are down. From a CONSUMERS
stand point, I would think there is cause for a REFUND should someone follow this course
of action. This is out of hand on Minelabs part. Totally uncalled for as a Business that CANNOT
deliver action on their Faulty designs!!! Especially for the PRICE of this unit there are just too
many War Stories.Like I said before, it's a Crap Shoot these days and those of you that have a
working CTX 3030, consider yourself ONE of the Lucky ones... Not a BASH as these are the FACTS!!!

Sigh, Minelab doesn't actually repair the units that us owners have if I recall right KellyCo, does.

Minelab are fairly reliable.

The OP was referring to a recent post where a forum member stated that a Kellyco employee in the repair department told him that they had a backlog of 150 detectors to repair.

Well your facts are wrong, they are repairing 8-12 detectors a day, not 2 a day. They receive between 5-10 a day on average although some days are none and some days are more. Warranty repairs are usually completed with in 14 days unless there is an issue with parts being out of stock which happens and warranty naturally takes priority over non warranty work as the warranty is on a running clock. Consumers sending in detectors should label their packages warranty if they are under warranty as well... I was in repair center yesterday and they have 130 detectors at that time.

The Minelab Repair Center is located at Kellyco, it is the authorized Minelab Repair Center for the Americas, the repair center was built by Minelab and is staffed with Minelab employees and contractors.

What I don't understand is why they doesn't KellyCo just call the Floriduh Unemployment office and get some warm bodies to work on the backlog? That would make a lot of the posters I have been reading lately very happy. They'd have their machines worked on in no time. Maybe KC could even charge less on machines worked on by state referred 'techs'. And theyd be fighting unemployment too!

As stated several times, it isn't an easy position to fill, you need someone with electronic training as well as some understanding of how detectors work. It isn't an assembly line job. Hiring someone with no electronic training especially in soldering means they will not have a clue what they are doing and motherboards will be trashed. On top of which training an inexperienced person to do electronics means the repair times will increase even further as you have to start at square 1. Hiring someone with no understanding of how detectors even work means they will not have a clue of how a proper running detector is suppose to sound, function and work, just because the detector turns on and the knobs work doesn't mean it is running properly. It was tried in the past and failed..

I know they are currently interviewing applicants now.....

FYI..They currently have a back log of 121 detectors as of Friday per repair center, this includes all detectors received by Friday at 4pm...

How many CTX 3030s' are currently in circulation, and working normally?

If someone in authority, who holds the overall franchise for the USA,..or indeed Minelab themselves; could offer an indicative ratio of total sold, compared to the number under repair; then the relevance of this post may be of some value.....otherwise it's just 'forum graffiti'.....

Matt.
