15" Coiltek coils?????

tbrom

I am considering purchasing one of the 15" coiltek 3khz or 7.5khz. I wanted opinions of those that have them or have used them. I have a 6" digger and its lack of depth and hi TID # are the only down falls of the coil in my opinion. I realize with the 15" you will sacrifice some shallow targets and loose some separation, not to mention its inherent size and weight issues. I am also considering the 9" concentric 3khz. Thanks for any insight!

I haven't noticed bad separation, but I used it at soccer fields and fields, that's what it's for.I run a 10.5 mf. And the weight feels no different.and one more thing,I found shallow targets so that's not a issue

I have the 3kHz 15" Coiltek, and I don't think I would worry about shallow targets. I've found more dimes at 1-2" with that thing (over areas I'd already covered!) than my other two coils combined. Bizarre.

Interesting! I had just heard(read) others say it missed shallow targets. My digger is a beast on coins down to about the 5" depth. I have only found a couple deeper with it. I have scanned several dimes a friend found with his F75 at 8". They didnt make a noise (with several different settings on my 6" 3khz) and sure enough they where good targets.I have a couple spots that I really want to try with a 15" coil to see and compare the coils. Thanks for the info. Please anyone else that can share some info!

Since you already have the 6" 3kHz Digger I wouldn't bother with the 9" concentric. I have all three LF coils, and until :coiltec: came out with theirs the 9" was my favorite coil. Since :coiltec: came out with their two I've generally had one or the other on, with the 15" almost a permanent fixture.
Don't worry about missing small targets that are high conductors like copper and silver with the 15" All Terrain. It surprises me the items that I find with it, and about the only time it comes off is when trash density is really high. Often when hunting in trash, a lot of it is iron, and the difference in response is such that I frequently pull good targets out of the middle of surrounding trash sharing the same hole. The good shines right through the bad due to the frequency and the target response to that frequency as opposed to junk.

OLH. Thanks. Does the 15" give you skewed TID numbers like the digger? Not that it really matters I dig the signals that are the correct tones and size regardless but just out of curiosity!

It's hot, but not as hot as the Digger. General conditions such as ground moisture play more of a role in how it performs in terms of TID accuracy on high conductors compared to the Digger.

Well, I went out by a local lake this afternoon and some of the things I found with my 15" 3kHz Coiltek were nine small split-shot, four lead sinkers, three tiny .22 cartridges, and a 2010 penny, all either on top of the soil or just barely covered. Not a very fruitful hunt at all, but it should allay any doubts about target-size with the big coil

I did dig a lost plain-brass key fob with a room number stamped on it that would have come from the old hotel that burned down in the 1890s. Not worth anything, but I love finding bits of history.
