14k with aquamarine stone?..HongKong 925

Out around noon hunting the falling tide with the Xcal, the water was so flat and clear today. Stepped in quite a few holes from the weekend warriors, but not another hunter seen for the four hours I was out there. Half hour in found the HK 925, did not think it was silver coming out of the water so shiny, think it must of been a fresh drop from the weekend beach crowd. Other than a couple dimes and cents there were no nickels in clad mix, but it was deep quarter Monday ($2.50)....the Xcal sure can sniff them out and I can tell myself a good percent of the time that's what I'm digging. Hunting in PP, I loaded up with lots of caps, tabs, hooks, pins and a couple of earrings. The 14k, 4.9g ring was a two scooper 3 hours into the hunt, I thought at first it had no stone when I saw it in the scoop. Best guess is the stone is Aquamarine, it does have a lite blue hue to it. Nice to finally have scored a gold one from the water to add to the one from the sand last week.....GL ALL

VN Bob! Goes to show never think a place is cleaned out... Love that PP mode..

Congratulations! Nice finds... Glad to see some gold. I hate those open holes, always fill mine and others when I see them. I seen at MB someone used a shovel and dug a foxhole below where I was staying, I made it on the beach a couple hours later and was happy to see the tide had filled most of it.

Just to confirm my guess that the stone is an Aquamarine, I stopped by the jewelry who agreed that it was. This is a good site I have used for helping to ID stones. http://www.gemselect.com/other-info/gemstone-list.php
The holes that I was referring to are not on the beach, they are scoop holes out in in the water which are easy to see and ID in the clear calm water from the shell scattered around them from the scoop shake-out. These holes would usually fill in from waves, but the Gulf is wave free these days unless there is some from passing boats

Very nice finds and gold!!

Stan, Glad to see you posting on FM:thumbup:.....and I was your first, LOL. Not found on the beach you would think though, few miles north.;)
