Saw a post on CL last night for a blue Xcal 1000 for $800.00. Called the guy and made arrangements to meet him at the beach this morning b4 he went to work. I was out there early with the X705 and he showed up right on time. The Xcal was bought used by him 2 summers ago, and last summer he sent it to Minelab to have the newer Koss phones, new battery, connections, seals and pressure tested. He hardly ever used it and when he did it was on the beach or ankle deep.....it's never been submerged....he can't swim. Being my first Xcal, I checked the knobs, all tight, checked the coil and cable for cracks and passed a few rings I had brought with me under the coil. All looking and sounding good, I offered $600 and got it for $650. With the rings I sold at Christmas and the $250 reward from the ring I recovered after new years, I'm still ahead in MDing cash earned and spent.
I took the Xcal back to the truck after a little use, going to get a straight shaft for it soon, and returned to the beach to hunt some more with the X705. Not much to find in the dry sand but a little change, 1 quarter, 2 dimes, 4 nickels, 13 cents, and pull tabs. After awhile I took some of the rings I had brought with me and checked their sounds and numbers in the sand, just to refresh my memory..... the very next target I had was 10/12 tid that locked on 12, that's most always a nickel, maybe a deeper tab, but in this case, a 14k 2.5g band with stones. My third gold ring this month/year from the beach!! GL ALL
* using the X705/ HF DD Elliptical....as always!

Excellent Bob!
Now you have one for land and one for water. You're going to be a force to be reckoned with.
