14k band - evening lowtide - some concers &

Both my hunting buddies were missing today, so I sailed down to the lane for late lowtide spin.
We did finally have a few targets to dig

Congrats on the ring! 4 days of saltwater and those screws are already corroding like that....that is bad news. Minelab better change the screws they are using and recall and replace the screws on units already sold. Such an expensive unit and they go cheap on the screws...

Yeah , that is a big concern .Max I would cover those screw heads with some silicone caulk while you are waiting for Minelab to take care of that corrosion situation . Nice going on the Gold ring and getting the lovelies to be in your video ......... STAND BY !!!

Were the screws painted prior to corroding?

Regarding the corrosion on the screws........have you been it hosing off with clean water after each use? HH Randy

That doesn't necessarily look like corrosion to me. It may be but from the pictures, it may just be salt deposits. Was the metal actually compromised? Did you wipe the screwheads down to find out if they were actually damaged?

Max got da yella! Way to go.

I think Minelab will probably do a recall for the screw problem and the shutdown problem. They will probably wait until this fall and see what else shakes out this summer. I remember I had to send my Explorer XS in for some mods after it was out for a while.

Mine looked like that after a 5 days at the beach. When I got home I took some soapy water and a toothbrush and it did clean right off. Which was good for me but for an everyday slat water hunter like max I agree ML better do something to adress that and the how easy the screen can scratch at the price they should include a Z@#$G screen protector and non corrosive screws.

Congrats on your first CTX gold Max!

With respect to the corrosion you may want to touch base with Minelab to see if there is cause for concern. I wonder if perhaps they did not use an appropriate marine grade aluminum alloy. Anyway I guess the good news is that the CTX comes with a 3 year warranty, so hopefully if this is a big issue Minelab will want to nip it in the bud.

Congradulations on the gold find and the klondike of coins! Sure was an improvement over the gray matter trip you made to the rock garden the other day! You had me in stitches with you observations and kept diggin all that ...

One question, was there gray matter in this video that you didn't dig ???
