1400DD and the beach

Has anyone used the new 1400DD at the beach yet? I will be getting it soon and was wondering how well it would work on the beach. Winter is coming here soon and I may not make it to the shore this year and don't want to be left in suspense until next spring.

I haven't tried mine on the beach... not many beaches in the Texas Panhandle. I'm satisfied with my 1400 coil. I initially thought is was a little heavy, but after swinging it for six hours today; I feel no worse for wear. It did take me a little while to learn how to successfully pinpoint. However, once I got it down, I was pleased with the results. (I found that once I found a target, if I held my pinpoint switch down and rotated 45 degrees, I could pinpoint the target - directly under the center of the coil). The depth of the coil is good in my soil (GND: 58-65). I was able to find a few coins in an area that I had recently searched with my stock 9.5 coil. I hope this info helps you make it thru until next Spring.

Should get mine tomorrow. If so I hope to use it at the beach on Tuesday. Will let everyone know my take on it.

Mine didn't have the depth of either the standard 9.5" or the DD 4x6" coil. In both air and in-ground tests, it was much weaker than the other coils on any coin at all depths/distances that I tried. Hopefully I'll have a replacement before long. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
