1350 vs. 1500

OK- I'm getting a little on in years and love my Ace. I've finally decided imaging is for me. Do I understand this correctly? The 1350 DOESN'T have DSP like the 1500? Finally, would smaller than coin-sized targets show up as coin-sized on the profiling of the 1350? Also, I read in the reviews that the 1350 isn't as good on nickels. Thanks, guys & gals.

The GTP 1350 machines do in fact have a DSP chip for better operation and the later models also have that newer chip to allow the detector to get better depth in higher mineralized soils. The GTI 1500 is the better machine of the two, as you get 5 increments in target size, vs. 2 in the GTP 1350. The difference in price is about 100 dollars

i've been using a new 1500 for the past two mornings, feel the need to really brag on the imaging feature. i have been hunting around a super trashy water park, and when something shows up as a half dollar, i can hit the imaging button and it will plainly show a can, deeper. i have found about 20 coins so far, with the oldest a 1965 quarter. but,, the main most thing i am trying to do is learn how to operate this detector. it is a tad irritating to hunt a place so trashy, but it is only 3 miles from my home.

I you are trying to decide between the two detectors get the 1500. You won't be sorry and won't find the need two by a new detector in the future. I think the weight is the same. Great machine!!!!

So I guess what you guys are saying is that the smaller than coins size or screwcaps will be sized correctly only on the 1500? Apparently these two sizes fall in the small size on the 1350?

Now, I'm even more confused! Kellyco mentions a frequency domain filtering on the 1350, but doesn't mention it on the 1500. Can you give me the full story, John. Imaging vs. profiling doesn't matter so much as this feature, which is similar to to detectors with more than one frequency. I really need some help here.

OK. Researched and found my own info-for those who may be puzzled as I was. This new "frequency domain analysis" that was only mentioned on the 1350 in some ads is nothing more than the DSP processor found on the GTI series. I agree that the 1500 would probably be the most accurate. Now to consider the poster on the 2500 who interestingly stated that when he took off the imaging coil for another he could still have some idea of the size of the target by the quickness of the signal. The Ace, with it's proformance coil has spoiled me and the 1350 still looms as viable. Boy, this forum has some great posters.

sligshot, My first detector was 1500 my second was 2500. I was very accustom to the imaging feature on the two. When I put the DD coil on my 2500 I had to ween myself of imaging feature . The 2500 does get you more depth and good separation between targets. You being a 250 user you already have learned the sizing of a target by the length of the signal when pinpointing and the quick bing you get when you have coin target. The 1500 also can be fitted with a DD coil. The 2500 is a heavy machine. The 2500 does have little more feature than the 1500. Being that I have both models I use the 1500 in certain areas and 2500 DD in others. The reason I ended up with two machines I thought the 2500 was going to be far above the 1500. The 1500 would have done the job.

Just remember that the GTI only images with two of it's search coils. The stock 9.5" and the imaging 12.5". Any other search coil won't image with GTI. GTP profiles no matter which search coil you are using. When I was using the GTI 2500, I would usually use the DD search coil anyways, so=no imaging. My GTAx1250 is exact same machine as GTP1350 and GTI1500 minus the profiling or imaging.
They're all good machines.:garrett::detecting:
