1350 Question

I have a new 1350. I have read the book several times, but I don't quite understand the difference of running in the coin mode, or the jewlery mode. I just don't seem to be able to grasp the difference. I thought you could find jewlery in the coin mode. Maybe I'm just dense!!

The difference is the disc. there is less of it in jewelry mode. if you look at the blocks in the coin mode you will see "vacant" slots. This means any target falling into that slot will not sound off. Alot of rings and gold will hit in those slots

OK. I looked at it again, and see what you are talking about now. I should have been able to figure that out on my own, but I just didn't see it. Thanks!! Maybe this new machine has me somewhat buffaloed, but I'm trying.

There is less discrimination in the jewelry mode as gold. gold jewelry, gold rings, fall into the conductive range of foil and pulltabs.

Years ago when I started had many unexplained thoughts..Unfortunately in those blocks added for the
jewelry mode also comes a lot of junk. So if your after coins , go with the coin mode, want to experiment go with the jewelry mode and dig all and it will probably explain it more throughly. Indeed silver coins are not seeded but many gold rings are lost each day. Fellows have worked out many ways to increase chances for gold jewelry. Usually a park will be loaded with one or two tabs, just notch them out and although you could miss a nice ring you will dig less and increase chances. For what its worth average gold ring just hits stronger and migh want to try some experiments with some gold rings aginst tabs etc. as it will help. Unfortunately gold rings cover a lot of the meter blocks and those that try get those nice gold rings walked over by mny detectorists.

Not a problem Sounder
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine
Found a nice .925 silver ring this morning on one of Galveston's beaches and it hit like a pulltab and after digging about 2000 of them this morning I thought oh well one more won't hurt but to my surprise it was a nice ring.....ya' just never know

That's strange as sterling usually ID's in the coin range. Maybe it was the way it was situated in the sand.

that was my first .925 with this machine. kinda weird but glad I dug

Yeah it pays to dig. The best discriminator is still your trowel.
