I had 2 firsts today, I FINALLY found my first SILVER coin!!!!! It is a 1943 QUARTER! 15 minutes later I pulled a sterling Mickey Mouse ring out of the sand! First silver coin and first silver ring in the same day ( been trying for the coin since 1989 when I got my Master Hunter 5 ). I was using the 10X14DD coil and EVERYTHING was double blipping, what does the double blip mean? In the days of the MH5 it meant an object nail shaped, but the quarter and the ring are not...

Joe, in my days a double blip on my old Tesoro would mean a coin or coin shaped object, some folks call it a whisper. I don't know if this would be the same on a DD coil. But I knew when I heard that whisper...I had a coin or something similar in size and shape.

Thank you, it seems to be the same way on the DD, BTW, I was getting tripple beeps sometimes on pultabs... go figure. The stock coil doesn't do this.

Remember you have a very narrow detection field on the DD. See that rib running down the middle of the coil? That's the width of the signal.

Does that effect the reporting of a target? I guess I am "old school" and still think a double blip is a nail...

From the land of the Bluenose...they say that every cloud has a silver lining well in this hobby every pile of junk yeilds a good find. Congrats on the ring and silver!

Thank you!! I hope there is tons of GOLD in your future!!

I have some incentive to "dig everything" My girlfriends daughters school is having some kind of contest as to who can get the most pultabs. Who better??? A METAL DETECTORIST!! I am just doing my part to help her win!! :jump:

I once got a double blip and dug two Walking Liberties standing on edge. I rest my case. :) I'm from the real old school. If it's a mystery I dig it.

I can't argue with that logic!!!
