Hey wait a minute, you cant take a Garrett relic hunting and find anything!

Nice lootage.

The 9x12 is very balanced to the detector. I think they really worked on distributing the weight. I normally spend hours in huge woods in the boonies following creeks to find old home sites. I thought it would be fun to dig in a definite CW area yesterday. These were dug about 8 miles away from Cold Harbor VA battlefield. This is 1862 first Cold Harbor
stuff and all bullets are dropped which always adds to the thrill knowing the boys were walking or running around. The round balls put me on full alert as I knew that I would be in a good position to locate a CS button but no dice. At that point in time the eagle could have easily been on a rebel uniform as well.
I dug over 80 shotgun shells yesterday, if you are new to detecting the eagle button and most 2 piece will fall within the same ID areas as the shotgun shells. I also had a bunch of Remington UMC that sound so good IDing at 2-3 clicks below a penny.
The thing that I enjoy about the Garrett's is that on at least two of the bullets and the dime I got the "single ding". If you are slowly working through the woods and it dings one time stop and use Uncle Willy's "old time technique" that single ding works like an alert to help you home in on deep targets. As soon as you move the leaves or a little soil they will idea correctly. ( bullet 1 click below penny unless shot, when mushroomed they sometimes bounce between coin alert and one click below) The dime locked as soon as I kicked the leaves away. I also use the zero disc mode until I start hearing a lot of iron and that slows me down to search more thoroughly in relic mode when I am trying to find a hot spot.

Excellent tip, BR!
