13" Ultimate today...(2 silvers)

Took the 13" (big bertha) out for it's 3 hr. maiden voyage.at that "ol trashy ballpark" again. Pretty much the same results as everyone elses' so far? Pinpoints like the stock, didn't really dig anyhting deep today except for a few "iffys" I chased with no luck except junk. Used the DetectingPal harness so noticed no difference in the weight until I unhooked the harness about 30ft from the PU.....and it felt heavy then...lol. I ran in auto +3. I did notice my nickels sounds and #'s were quite different than with the stock, and not just the war nickel. I was getting a warble almost like a higher conductor and my ferrous #'s were off on these fairly shallow nickels...???? No biggy...just a new sound to listen for. I also took it right into the trash and with a little work I managed to isolate a couple targets and put em in the pouch. I liked the coil and have a few spots it'll really come in handy similar to the "ol trashy ballpark".....

Think I dug 18 coins and got a '25 wheatie, '43 war nickel, and sqeaked in there with the '64 rosie. Also dug a lot of trash basically to see what the new coil was telling me.

I'll take it to a newer school up the road maybe tomorrow if it ain't raining , that has a few coins (think it's a 1940's school?)......

Thanks for sharing your learnings! Not unusual for the different size coil to alter the way some coins read and sound.

Congrats on the silver!

it's rocks when you need deep or coverage, most of the time I have on the coiltek treasureseeker 10x5 and that coil is great in trashy spots, congrats on your finds

I haven't really got anything deep with it yet....6-7". Gonna go hit a 1920's school today I've hunted before a few times with my old machine and managed a few silvers in the past. They are shutting the school down and probably sell it to private so I better get on it while I still can....... Good test for the Ultimate today (another typical pounded schoolyard)....

I'm surprised you're not getting deeper targets with it. I have had my 13" for about a week now and it's been killing it on deeper targets. It may just be that there aren't any deeper targets where you're swinging. My first hour out with it I hit a section of the park I pounded for a month last year. Got a Rosieand Washington, neither of which were deep. I think I just missed them last year. But I got 2 wheats at 9" and 9.5" measured. In my soil that's pretty darn good. I also dug an 1854 Large Cent at 10" and an 1850 Bank of Upper Canada half penny at 10". I have several videos I have to upload to my YouTube channel that shows these and others. I absolutely love this 13" coil. It's probably going to be my main coil now. I think the one advantage is this coil gives more consistent tones on deep targets. The numbers are still jumpy but the tones are better IMO.

nice silvers. i'm still waiting on my first war nickel this year which is a bit strange, usually i find quite a bit of them.

I'm starting to warm up to this coil. I hadn't got into anything real deep except that Ford Token I dug @ around 10" + but it's almost the same diameter as a silver dollar. Now today I slowed down and re-hunted a yard with the ultimate and all my targets were 6" + with 5 wheaties in the 7-9+" range. Numbers were all over the map on ferrous side but there was just enough consistancy in the co #'s and more important than any #'s was the sounds. I really wanted to walk away from some of these but the audio wouldn't let me.... So far as I can tell with this (or probably any coil) the audio will tell the story. Had a heck of a time pinpointing on a few because of the trash but with some work & wiggling I managed to isolate the targets..... Even if you can't use the pinpoint mode I could still pinpoint pretty good with a little work. Think I'll be keeping the 13" around........
