13" Ultimate DD Coil

Has anybody got the new 13" Ultimate DD coil yet? Just wondering if it is better then the 10x12 SEF.

I've got one on the way. Should have it by mid next week. I cant wait to try it. I'll let you know how it goes. HH. Matt

OK. I have tested the Ultimate in two very different places. Unfortunately due to the weather today I couldn't stay long at either spot. My first impressions are that it is a big coil. I feel it is light for its size but it is still a big coil. Next I noticed it was just as stable if not better than the other DD coils I use on my DFX. So far I haven't had to tweak any of my settings to accomodate the Ultimate. Then I noticed how hard it hit good targets. And one of the most important things to me was that it pin-pointed about dead center on the coil. I was hoping I could PP with this large coil as easily as smaller coils. YES! This is only my opinion after 45 minutes of use. I hope to compare and confer with other Ultimate/DFX owners soon. HH. Matt

Ive been out a few more hours with the Ultimate. Kills clad like nothing. Pin points right on tho I cant always believe the depth its telling me. Its getting easier to swing; I wasnt used to such a large coil. This coil is finding aluminum can shards to 10"+! Ive never dug such deep holes as I am now digging with this coil. Im using three different programs. One is a modified coin/jewelry similar to stock program but a little hotter. Then I am running the 'High VDI Silver Coin' program from Jeff Foster's book 'Digging Deeper with the DFX'. Also I'm experimenting with Jeff Foster's 'Wheats and Silver' program. I try Larry's program but it runs quite hot in my soil. When I need a reality check I go into the stock programs 'coins and jewelry'. Just my opinion and experience so far. HH. Matt

Do you own any other 12" or bigger coils for that machine, such as an SEF? I'm curious how the depth of the 13 incher compares to say at 12x10 or a 15x12. Well, in my soil the 15x12 didn't get as good of depth on coins as the 12x10 (it did in the sand, though). Mainly curious if this coil is going to turn out to be deeper than the 12x10. I doubt it's going to seperate left/right wise as good as an SEF, because the unique shape of the SEF really puts out a thin detection line. Also wondering how well that coil will handle rough ground, because the SEF can run at high sensitivity in even bad ground most of the time. I believe this is due to the SEF's thin/less sloppy left/right detection line, so that in a sense it is "seeing" less ground than even some smaller coils. Not as sloppy of a signal being "soaked" into the ground matrix if you know what I'm trying to say. It's got a very sharp field width wise, but I believe goes very deep.

Critter, The only other coil that I have is the 950. I do know one thing for sure, I would be lost without my 10x12. I don't see any need for me to go any bigger. A lot of my areas that I hunt has a lot of trash. The best thing I like about the 10x12 is I get great seperation and I am able to find the coins through the trash.
