Ok guys I bought one of the newer coils made in Russia for my Racer 2 by a company called Magic or MGC Labs. I got the 13" DD and I am totally happy with it. It came today and was only 99 bucks and 10 shipping. So for 109.00 I do not think you can go wrong. They make a 8X5 DD coil for the Racer as well.
I did not bother air testing it or anything like that. I made sure it plugged in correctly and ground balanced and took off.
I took it out to the woods behind my house where a little civil war camp was here on my land. I have not found anything out there in a few years that dates to the civil war but today that changed. I dug a fired .36 caliber round ball and what looks like a small pistol caliber bullet too that was fired. I also dug a large modern jacketed bullet in another part of the yard and also probably the deepest shogun brass too at about 7 inches. I know that is not much but I believe I found the shotgun brass due to the larger sweep of the coil.
I do not know how deep the small pistol caliber bullet was because I did not measure it. But I used my pin pointer on the fired .36 caliber bullet as a reference and the end of it looks to be a good inch or more in the hole. I think the pin pointer itself is 9" long. So that is a good 10 inches on the .36 caliber bullet. Not too shabby in my book.
The coil separates well too. I dug some kind of small copper square piece at about 7 inches. I do not know what it is but it measures about 1/16" in diameter and about 1 inch and a quarter long. I was amazed at that in itself. I have no idea what it could be either.
This is probably the largest coil I have used on a machine as I have always been a coin shooter for the most part. I took a few pictures of the coil side by side next to the Anfibio stock 11" coil to show the size difference.
Your going to have to use a shovel I am afraid with this one if your looking for deep old targets!!
Here are a few pics of todays play time with my new coil.
I am very well pleased with the purchase. I am now going to use the Racer 2 for relic hunting and use the Anfibio for coin shooting.
