13 Inch Coil

COINHAWKER

New member
Has anyone used the large 13 inch coil in parks and sports areas? How well does it do in these areas with light to moderate trash? Thanks!

With light to moderate trash it should be fine, it is especially handy if trying to grid up ground and gain maximum coverage, or infill gaps that may have been overlooked using a smaller coil. The downside is obviously more risk of some masking using a larger coil, though target separation is still pretty good for the size. If you don't mind using the notch feature, that can cut down on a lot of unwanted targets - depends if you want to include likely gold targets, or just pure coin shooting and higher conductivity targets. I simply don't have the patience to dig targets in the gold range, much prefer to concentrate on older coinage these days.

Yes that would make sense. The coil being 13 inches would give a edge on depth I think over the 11 inch. But that depends on the trash factor as you say. I agree the ground coverage would be good. Also setting the reactivity to 2.5 or 3 would also be helpful.

I am amazed that not much is mentioned by XP Deus users about fresh water hunting. It seems to do fine from watching a few YouTube videos.

I have done some fresh water hunting and it seems to work just as well as land hunting.
