13.01 - 02?

This ring comes in at 13.01 - 02. It's 2.2 grams. Did not dissolve at 10, 14 or 18k but did at 22k acid test. It has no stamp or hallmark but a personal inscription. Can this be anything other than 18k white gold? I have another small 1.1 gram 10k yellow gold that comes in similar. All my junk rings come in at copper to silver range. Thanks.

Check it with a strong magnet, Stainless Steel will come in on the CTX in that range. Most Stainless will be slightly attracted to a magnet. Platinum can also come in that range on the CTX dependent on size, depth etc.
Another test which will give you a better idea of the metal would be a specific gravity test....although not entirely accurate, it will let you know if it is in the SS range, gold range or platinum range with the Specific Gravity numbers.

With it hitting in that range my uneducated but experienced opinion would be that it would be
platnum. My experience with stainless steel and the ctx is that the stainless would have to be
a large chunck to set the ctx off for some reason. Something that small in stainless and buried
in dirt I doubt seriously would set the ctx off. The only stainless object I have ever found was a
large 6" soup spoon at the beach 3" deep in the white sand. Others may have different results
on stainless with the ctx but that has been my experience. I actually have a 15' x 9" x 1/4" piece
of stainless buried in my yard and has been there for years. It's worth a lot of money but I have
left it there. It is about 4" deep and my safari and AT Pro both will pick it up but the ctx just won't
do it. It is under some very dense gray clay. That's what we have here in low places.

Thanks for the replies! Unfortunately, it is slightly magnetic. Still learning the machine, sounds and numbers. It has been great so far in the short time I have had it!

Sorry it seems to be SS, I had a hunch since I seem to get quite a few at the beach. Most if not all of the SS rings hit in the 12-01 through 12-08/09 range. Just remember, the numbers on the machine are just an indication what it may be..... I have had platinum, SS, gold and gold plated silver all hit down in that range along with the foil and pull tabs!
